Can an introvert be a good leader? Absolutely!

Maybe you’ve been told that you’re not a “natural-born leader” or that you would need to learn to be more assertive to be taken seriously. But you’ve always wondered if that was really true.

Isn’t it possible to be true to yourself and lead a team effectively? Yes!

If you prefer to listen more than you talk, to collaborate rather than compete, and consider your options before making decisions, you can be a powerful leader.

Are you ready to embrace your authentic leadership style and get the best out of your teams? You don’t have to make the journey alone! Leadership coaching is a great option to get the support you need to take your career to the next level.

Client Testimonials

Adapting to a new environment and leading collaboratively

“As an immigrant to Canada and a newcomer to a government job, I received feedback that my leadership style was not fostering a positive or collaborative team environment, and that team members didn’t trust me. I had to quickly find support to help me navigate the cultural and organizational norms that were foreign to me.

Fortunately, I came across Beki and thus my leadership development journey began. From the initial session, I felt supported in my challenges and struggles. Beki has a remarkable ability to deeply listen and respond when the moment is right and with the right words.

Within months, Beki’s insights and feedback allowed me to understand my work environment, and, most importantly, allowed me to start adjusting my leadership style to improve team dynamics and relationships. With two years’ worth of Beki’s coaching and guidance, I rebuilt trust with team members and created a great team environment.”

Learning to manage time better

“I got the chance to work with Beki after I decided I needed help facilitating my time with various projects.

Being able to talk through and figure out what was most important to me and how to manage my time better was something she really excelled in helping me visualize. I now have a better understanding of my own time management and how to get projects completed in a timely manner.

Beki truly has a knack for really listening to your needs and creating a space that works specifically for you.”

Why you should work with me

My philosophy is that organizations and teams are better if we all show up as ourselves. Our diversity shows up in different ways for each of us and when we try to hide the parts of ourselves that feel different or unwelcome, we’re depriving ourselves and our teams of the full benefits of our leadership.

As an introvert, I often assumed that I was at a disadvantage in leadership roles. I thought I needed to change that part of me to lead my teams well. It wasn’t until after years of hard work and reflection that I embraced my introvert nature and started leading as an introvert. I was lucky to find people who encouraged me along the way to help make that journey more possible.

Sometimes we can all use a little help.

Working with a leadership coach can be useful to gain a new perspective on your situation or to have a thinking partner to challenge your assumptions.

I know that we don’t all think out loud and I provide a mix of in-session and pre-/post-session work to allow you to get the most out of our engagement. If you’re an introvert, some of your best thinking probably happens in the quiet reflection after a session, and I will offer you the space to process your thoughts in the way that suits you best.

What to expect in your coaching session

As your coach, I will act as your partner in a collaborative experience to provide the support you need to understand your current situation and the path forward.

In a typical coaching session with me, you can expect to set a goal for what we will achieve together in the session, deepen your understanding of your situation by considering various questions, identify possible ways forward, and come up with concrete action steps to take. Coaching is forward-facing, so my goal is always to support you to move forward towards meeting your goals.

Depending on your personal style, I also offer optional follow up between sessions to help you increase your accountability for the actions you’ve committed to.

How to prepare for your first session

To get the most out of your first coaching session, it can be useful to reflect on your situation and where you would like to see change or your ideal future state. Try not to over-prepare, though. You don’t need to come to the session with all the answers — we’ll figure those out together!
